Care Instructions: Make Your Furniture Last Longer
When treated properly, high quality furniture lasts even longer. Here are some tips to make sure you get the most of your FASHION FOR HOME furniture.
Wood and Veneer
• Wood and veneer are sensitive to light. For the first 6-8 weeks, try to avoid leaving anything on furniture surfaces that are exposed to light for an extended amount of time to avoid stains and rings related to bleaching. New furniture pieces darken with time, so after a time they will perfectly match older pieces.
• Water should be used sparingly on wood and veneer surfaces, and only with a damp cloth. Do not apply a soaking wet cloth to wood or veneer and make sure to thoroughly dry surfaces after cleaning them.
• Wood and veneer are sensitive to liquids. Make sure to wipe up any spilled liquids immediately.
• When trying to remove stains, always use the gentlest method, such as mild soap and warm water.
Fabrics
• Protect fabrics from direct sunlight to avoid bleaching.
• Most fabric covers are removable, washable, and replaceable. To ensure the colors remain as bright and new looking as when you first received your furniture item, wash at 85 degrees F or lower.
• Fabrics may be vacuumed regularly (use soft brushes) and cleaned with standard textile cleaners.
• Stains can be removed with standard spot removal kits.
Leather
• Protect leather from direct sunlight and heat to avoid bleaching.
• For general cleaning, use a soft, dry cloth.
• If necessary, entire leather surfaces can be wiped down with a cloth and soapy water.
• When vacuuming leather surfaces, make sure to use soft brushes to avoid scratches.
• We recommend regular cleaning with a standard leather cleaner.
Upholstered Furniture
• If possible, seat and back cushions should regularly be turned over to make them last longer and let them wear evenly.
• Cushions filled with foam, feathers or fibers should be shaken regularly to maintain their shape.
• Make sure your sofa's feet are fastened securely and checked regularly.
• If you have to move your sofa or armchair, make sure not to drag it over the floor to avoid scratches on the floor, feet, or frame.
